A Few More Screens

Lower Polygon Models

Here are a few reders of the lower polygon models. I managed to reduce the polygon count by a pretty huge sum which im happy about. Feels like am back on track now.

Models with texture

Just a quick glimpse of the rendered out gates with texture,

Bit of texturing, mainly for practice though

Made a few textures today, fiddled around etc. Applied some to my gates. Its mostly rough at this stage but it was good practice and am looking forward to getting a lot more done.

Researchings

After deciding to create a car scrapyard with a graveyard feel Nate showed me a mysterious 'Cadillac Graveyard, where the bonnets of the cars are lodged into the ground at an angle creating a gravestone like effect which is a perfect example of what im trying to emulate.

Visual Inspiration

A few images of other CGI enviroments similar to mine,

These are all from Fallout 3, which has a similar style to what id be going for.

Visual Research

Here are a few images off've Google that i have thought useful. These are of the traditional 'chop-shop' that was in the original brief. Mainly just pictures of destroyed cars and other cool stuff.

To mix it up a bit i found some images for the other potential ideas i could use For instance this is the Naval scrapyard.

My most likely choice would definitely be the graveyard, i can really visualise something with this and would enjoy the modelling etc.

"When I Grow Up I Want To Be...."

Unit Title: Industry Exercises 1

For our new project brief weve been tasked with choosing one of three industry lead assignments, all of a varied structure. There are also four possible ares of concentration, which are;
  • 2D Conceptualization
  • Character Animation
  • Visualisation (and Modelling)
  • Visualisation (Texturing and Rendering)

Although id be very excited to start doing some character animation, i feel that the assignment that includes this doesnt suit to my tastes and i cant figure how i could happily make it my own.

I think i might be more comfortable with the visualisation aspects as the concept looks to me as something i can either enjoy visualising as it is, or change in a way that i feel more suitable.

Brief A: Game Design
"i want your students to design, build and texture a 'chop-shop' for us. This is a garage where stolen cars are taken to either be re-sprayed and given new number plates, or broken up for spare parts. If they want to come up with a name for the chop-shop and appropriate signage that would also help is out."

Ive been thinking about how i can change it to make it my own and ive been thinking that instead of a car graveyard i could make it anything, a ship scrapyard, rubbish dump, destroyed factory or even a human graveyard.
